just hit it kinda hard a couple times, but not hard enough to break it. if that doesnt work, hit it again. if it stil doesnt work, i dont kno what to tell ya. but the hitting works for me

IFree wireless has 2 connection versions ps2 or usb. they also have new auto power saving mode. the new trackball is optical. The best part of this keyboard is the digital frequency it runs on with out interference. standard batteries work best lasting months. rechargeable did not work very long for me and only lasted a week. several of these keyboards can all run at same time without conflict because of the packet based shared transmission similar to eithernet. I always had a wired standard ps2 keyboard and the ifree usb at same time on my old athlon computer due to old bios usb keyboard issues. all new computers have basically resolved usb problems and they just work fine. even my socket 939 had rare boot issues with usb keyboard; so i stick to ps2 port. ifree is made in Taiwan and they had the drivers. I installed a newer beta version which helped a bit. If i remember right, the software was not required. ***to make a connection there is a button on the transceiver with lights and buttons on the keyboard. there is no lights, software indicators to tell that keyboard itself is working. I would go into your start up menu and check if your PC has the USB connection checked.Also check if the mouse and keyboard work on other computers.if they work than its your computer if they dont work check for wear and tear on the mouse and keyboard cables and connector ends.
