Lunar eclipse occur when the moon passes through the Earth's umbra (shadow). This means that the Earth must be in between the Sun and the Moon. Due to the movement of the Earth around the Sun, this can only occur at specific points in time, as the Earth wobbles on its axis, in addition to being tilted on its axis in relation to the solar plane (the path which the Earth travels around the Sun). Since the Earth's axis is tilted out of plane (i.e. not perpendicular or straight up and down to the solar plane) the Moon orbits Earth at an angle out of solar plane. Because of the different speeds invovled, the Moon aligns with the Earth and Sun in the proper configuration infrequently, but it is possible to calculate when the event will occur.

A full moon lunar eclipse happens approximately twice a year.
Actually it doesn't. Typically, a lunar eclipse happens about twice a year.
You can breed a Lunar Eclipse dragon using the following combinations: Lunar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse, Lunar Eclipse and Solstice, Equinox and Lunar Eclipse, Blue Moon and Lunar Eclipse, Lunar Eclipse and Solar Eclipse, Lunar Eclipse and Moon, and Lunar Eclipse and Sun.
lunar eclipse. lunar = moon, solar=sun. lunar eclipse= moon eclipsed
A lunar eclipse can happen only when the Moon is full.
Lunar system in the moon
If the orbit of the Moon was level with the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, there would be a solar eclipse at every new moon, and a lunar eclipse at every full moon.
There are two types of eclipse : Lunar eclipse (moon), Solar eclipse (sun) . Lunar eclipse is a situation, when the earth comes between sun and moon.
Every Lunar Eclipse comes from the same place, when the sun, moon, and earth are lined up in a straight line. So the first Lunar Eclipse is no different from the others.
The lunar eclipse can only happen when the moon is full.
