Plants have chloroplasts in them, this gives the distinct green colour we are familiar with.

It also REFLECTS green light, hence you need other wavelengths of visible light for the plant to be able to grow.

The reason why plants do not grow between in artificial light is because the energy that is transmitted to the plants is not as strong as that which comes from the sun. Natural sunlight is also more equally distributed to plants than artificial light would be.

Is it better to buy a fish tank with a halogen light or a LED light?

that depends what you want to do with the tank if you want a planted tank then dont go with a LED light inless the plants are very hardy and dont require a lot of light. if its just for fish go with the LED light. i have a LED light on my fish tank and my fish are doing great. i dont have any plants but i might get some hardy, low light ones. LED also saves energy

Does the leaves help plants get the light they need?

No, generally lighter coloured leaves tolerate higher levels of sunlight; the extreme would be silver coloured leaves that reflect excess sunlight - as in the case of many desert plants. The general tendancy of plants is the lower the light level the darker green the leaf, more chlorophyll is produced to comensate for the lower light levels.

Why might humans better adapt to a changing environment than plants?

maybe we have brains and they dont deerrrr several reasons. 1.We can reason and build items to help us survive; plants cannot. 2.We can move and act on our own, plants cannot. 3.Plants need basic essentials to survive, such as a warm climate and light. 4.Humans have instinct and can hunt and look for water; plants cannot move.
