You could try spoon feeding them. Put some mashed up fruit or honey on a spoon and offer it to them slowly. If they do not act interested, you could try placing some on their lower antenaes. If you are lucky they will then raise the food that is on their antenaes up to their mouth parts to start eating. Keep trying. Or place it directly in front of them and leave them alone. If they end up tucked into their shells and dont startle when you gently probe their claw, they most likely are dieing. Seperate them and hope that they die a quick mercifull death. Make sure you do your research on how to care for hermit crabs so that they don't get into that positition. Sometimes it's not our fault, but knowledge does help prevent the enevitable.

∙ 15y agoHermit crabs will become stationary for long periods of time when the humidity and temperature are not within the range they need to properly function. Humidity and temp should be between 74 and 82.

HERMIT CRAB FOOD ADVICE-Some good things to feed your hermit crabs are shredded/ chopped carrots. They will eat about any fruit that isn't acidy like lemons, Oranges, pinapple ect. Change they're un-eaten food everyday to avoid mould of sickness.

Though your hermit crab may not like his food. If you have commercial brand food, try to feed him some human food. Like grapes, cantaloupe, cheerios, tortilla chips.
