That not exactly true. If a person is under considerable stress and sleeps in the nude or something skimpy they can often find themselves outside in the say the backyard buck naked, wake up and not know how they got there. Sleepwalking can cause the person to do very strange things and most humans experience this at least once in their life. One time I was sleepwalking (not a common occurrence of me) and I picked up the cushion off my husband's favorite chair and placed it on the bathroom sink! I didn't remember a thing. I have no idea why I did such a thing. Some people have actually dreamed they have gotten up and gone to the bathroom, when, in fact, they wet the bed! A person that sleepwalks (or dreams) is not in full REM sleep (deep sleep where the eyes roll from side to side.) Some people are so bad regarding sleepwalking it's a good idea to seek professional help such as counseling to find out the cause.

What is the reson behind the idea never wake a sleepwalker?

The idea behind never waking a sleepwalker stems from the belief that doing so can cause confusion, disorientation, or even panic in the sleepwalker. Waking someone in the midst of a sleepwalking episode can lead to a heightened state of anxiety, as they may not understand their surroundings or what is happening. Additionally, sleepwalking occurs during deep sleep, and interrupting this state can disrupt their sleep cycle and lead to further disturbances. It is generally safer to gently guide the sleepwalker back to bed without waking them.
