Earth testing results should be related to the voltage source, i.e., AC in most situations. AC reacts to resistive and reactive loads, DC to resistive loads only.

Not all earth testers, however, use AC.

Megger is a generic term for High Potential tester. It is the name of a company that produces these testers. They are available in AC or AC/DC models. So it depends on which one you have.

Meggering is usually done with DC voltages, not necessary. For higher test apparatus AC megger costs high than DC for same voltage.

What is the output voltage of megger is it ac or DC?

megger are available in ac &dc

Why the ac is input to the transformer?

Because transformers are usually used to step down AC votage, however they usually can accept DC power to step down or up.

Why ac megger not use in cable meggering?

Because the cable has capacitance, and an AC source would not be able to distinguish between capacitance and leakage.

What is rectifier and what is its use?

rectifier, it is a n electrical device that converts ths high votage carrying AC to low voltage carrying DC

Why is AC meggering not used?

You do not use AC to megger a device, because the purpose of meggering is to measure the insulation resistance of the device. You use DC to do that. If you used AC, you would be unable to differentiate between insulation leakage and capacitance.

Why ac drive convert ac voltage in dc?

It is done to control the speed of the motor.

Is wave energy an AC or DC current?

mainly AC but can be DC if done correctly

Why use DC for testing?

A: It can be AC but DC provide a stable environment to get reliable results

The AC blower fan on a 90 Mazda 626 does not come on at all Can anyone give some reasons why?

Go in the fuse box, below the hood, locate the ac fan relay (according to the schematic), swap it with another one(with an equal votage and amp value). start your car and turn on your ac. Then leave your engine runing. pop the hood and check if the fan is running. If the fan works, your ac relay needs to be replaced. good luck!

How to tell if your car has a bad ac compressor?

You have a system performance test done on your AC system.

OK. Done that

Why you use DC in megger?

There are different types of megger, which is simply a trade name for a range of different instruments. Not all meggers use d.c., for example, an earth-resistance megger uses a.c. On the other hand, an insulation-resistance megger uses d.c. because it applies a constant test voltage across the insulation being tested.
