Students may lie to teachers for various reasons, such as to avoid punishment, protect themselves, or cover up their mistakes. They may also lie due to fear of judgment, pressure to succeed, or facing personal struggles that they are not comfortable sharing. Building trust and open communication can help minimize instances of lying.
