Because existing in a 2 dimensional world is impossible for males (and females). If you are asking why males are generally taller than women, it is because males tended to need to fight for mates back in the cave man days. (And to a certain extent, now.) Anything that increases a male's chance of mating will be passed down to the offspring and enhanced over millions of years. (Because those who did not have said trait wouldn't be getting the hanky panky, hence his genes would not be passed down.)
