In general, "telling lies" is not an impeachable offense. The constitution states that "high crimes" such as treason are impeachable, as is lying to Congress under oath. In order for the idea of impeachment gain any traction, there would need to be serious charges brought against the president, and then congress would have to agree to impeach him. Since the senate is currently controlled by a majority of Democrats, it is doubtful they would vote for impeachment.
That said, it is worth noting that the constitution set a high bar for impeachment so that it would not be used as political revenge. You may not like President Obama, nor do most Republicans; but there is no evidence that he has lied more than other presidents. Sadly, many presidents have shaded the truth, either intentionally or just to avoid taking the blame for something. Further, you might consider something the president said as a lie, but his supporters might disagree with your assessment. And the same conversation occurred during the Bush Administration, with opponents of President Bush wanting him impeached and his Republican supporters defending him. Mr. Bush was not impeached, and it is similarly unlikely that Mr. Obama will be either.
1. Only the House of Representatives can impeach the President. 2. The president must first break a federal law in order to be impeached. As of right now only two presidents have ever been voted on by the House of Representatives to be impeached and the House voted against it. Unless President Obama breaks a federal law, it is impossible for the House of Representatives to impeach him.
No, it is very unlikely that President Obama will be impeached, given that he has not committed high crimes and misdemeanors, nor been guilty of treason. Not liking a president is not reason enough to have him impeached or every U.S. president would have faced impeachment due to the people who opposed them. There is thus a very high bar for impeaching a president, and it cannot just be because some people dislike him.
Because he has committed no crimes. You may not like him, you may wish he were not the president, but disliking or disagreeing with someone isn't grounds for impeachment. In fact, the constitution is very specific: it says a president may only be impeached for "high crimes and misdemeanors." This often means committing treason, lying under oath to congress, taking bribes, etc. Despite what you may hear on partisan Talk Shows, there is no evidence Mr. Obama has done any of these things. Thus, he has not been impeached, nor will he be.
As of 2014 there have only been 8 U.S. Governors who have been impeached. The last one to be impeached was Governor Rod Blagojevich in 2009.
No he hasnt
Andrew Johnson, and Bill Clinton
Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were the only presidents that were impeached by the House. Neither were removed from office, that is done through the senate. Nixon would have been impeached, however he resigned from office to avoid impeachment.
