The history of women has been one where women are seen as chattel and are not given rights. Until recently men have been the majority in congress with an occasional woman here and there. As it is there are a handful of women as governors or are CEO's of corporations. Today women still earn 75 cents on the dollar compared to a man in the same job. So, to have a woman on any form of currency has been a fight. Women have not been recognized for their accomplishments in many areas of life and to be placed on the 20 dollar bill a woman would have to be seen as a historical figure. Just listening to the current political debate concerning women tells us that women still have a long way to go to be fully equal.
Alexander Hamilton is currently pictured on the $10 bill. Mention has been made of plans to put a woman on this bill, but I do not think they have been finalized.
