They disaper in late fall to spring just like in the real world but if you hit the large rocks you find around the neighborhood with a shovel some worms and bugs that hibernate may come out (also money) from my personal experience I have found rocks with money closer to the shore and rocks with bugs closer to civilization.
Check your season. Bugs normally don't prosper in winter.
You can find a list of all the bugs, how much they sell for, and where and when to get them at this site: http://accf.wikispaces.com/Bugs
Donate all paintings, bugs, fish and fossils to the museum. You then receive a museum model.
Since it is still Winter, there's a good chance that they've disappeared for the cold season. They do that in every game. You can find Mole Crickets really well this season. Just wait until Spring -- they come back in full force. You'll be sick of them by the time Autumn rolls around again.
