What is that tingle your neck or side of your head when someone thinks about you Has anyone done research on it How do you know who it is Where they are is not where you feel it?

What you are talking about sounds like a type of Empathy. This type of Empathy usually involves knowing where people are and how they are feeling, if they are ok, if they are talking about you, and knowing when they move. Usually one only gets this type of Empathy with someone they are very close to, such as a lover or a child. Some people can do it with multiple people. I do not know exactly what it is called, only that is it a type of empathy.

How is empathy related to perception?

I would say empathy is largely related to perception. Part of empathy is being able to read non-verbal communication in other people. Recognition, as well as understanding, goes into being empathetic, as empathy is a very social feeling. This is what separates empathy from sympathy. Some people are more empathic than others because they have an acute ability to "read" people and understand what emotions that person is experiencing. That isn't to say that someone has to have gone through the exact same experience, but can relate to or understand what a person is feeling. Without any personal interaction, it would be rather hard to empathize with someone, as opposed to sympathizing with someone that you have no connection or interaction with. For instance, one can sympathize with people living in poverty, but can't empathize with them unless there is some social interaction. In this way, empathy is a much stronger connection with other people than mere sympathy or pity, and also invokes a desire to help or comfort another person.

Why is empathy important?

empathy is very important when dealing with other people. i had a lot of experience with empathy lately and i guess we could say that we could relate the feelings of other people particularly the people close to us. by this, we can help them and understand them better.

What is the difference between feeling shy and feeling embarrassed?

It is much like the medical distinction between "chronic" and "acute". Shyness is a chronic discomfiture around other people, especially strangers. It is native to some people - they are simply "shy". Embarrassment is an acute feeling of discomfiture because one does not just feel shy - they also feel completely awkward or foolish in certain situations or around certain people.
