Why is Allen B DuMont mentioned in Tron?

He was responsible for the CRT improvements that allowed our televisions to be invented. While you would think that wouldn't have anything to do with the structure of Tron, I believe that the machine used to "digitize" yourself was loosely based on a reverse CRT idea. So they were just doing some scientific name dropping :D
