It really depends on which side you ask. Republicans, his political opponents, would say he has been ineffective because there is still a huge deficit and unemployment remains stubbornly high. Democrats, his political supporters, would say he has a long list of achievements during his first term, including turning the economy around, rescuing General Motors from bankruptcy, and getting a number of important agenda items passed despite an obstructionist congress. A majority of the American people evidently believe Mr. Obama did a good job addressing all of the problems he inherited when he took office; they re-elected him to serve a second term as president.
