If you are asking why Bella is weak mentally and emotionally, I doubt there is a reason. Stephenie Meyer doesn't seem to like reasons (or at the very least, she doesn't like good reasons).
Physically, she's just out of shape. and Mentally, she is just a whiny brat and always will be... at least that's what the book says if that's what Meyer wanted or not I don't know, personally, i don't think Stepenie Meyer is a very good author at all.
