Believe it or not, when i moved to bramptom in 1967 it was a small pretty little town that only was developed as far east as Kennedy road, west as far as mcglaughlin rd. steeles to the south and voden st to the north, all surrounded by farmland in every direction. on the weekend the block surrounding main and queen would be closed to traffic and would host a farmers market. Gage park was bigger but gave over to the new bus terminal. I remember Gage park as having the most elaborate flowerbeds. Brampton hosted a large municipal greenhouse and raised all the flowers for all the municipal flowerbeds in brampton, as well as there being a number of idependently owned and operated greenhouses near the creek were it crosses voden street. this seemed to be the obvious theme for the town, giving Rosealea arena its name and spawning an yearly parade that had the flower theme. Looking at brampton now it is hard to imagine the quaint town it was.
