It flies in the face of Established Religion and every thing it stands for.

Although evolution makes no claim about religion or even how life sprang from un-life, religious adherents see it as undermining the belief that God created everything and as science trying to replace God or someother supernatural diety.

All evolution seeks to explain is the changing of living organisms from one form to another according to the dictates of the environment and natural selection, all of which could be ascribed to divine design or scientic explanation.

1. The principle "problem" is that it does not incorporate abiogenesis--the origin of life itself. Darwin's theory does a superb job of accounting for speciation, the great diversity of life we find on this planet. It is apparent all life originated from one to three common ancestors. Whether eukaryotes, prokaryotes and archaea share common ancestry or not is unknown. It is possible life arose three or more times. Yet no process for the origin of life is well detailed. We have at best murky possibilities, such as an RNA world preceding our "DNA" world, and so on.

2. Darwin's theory, when originally proposed, did not account for mechanisms of variation. This problem has since been resolved with the discovery of inheritable mutations in the structure of the "recipe" molecule deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and the incorporation of molecular Biology in what has become known as "the modern synthesis."

3. Although any scientific theory will suffer trivial defects, and evolution is no exception, I am at a loss as to what might constitute a third "main" problem of the theory. It has no competitors, a hallmark of a fairly strong and robust theory. That in itself could be considered a problem. Theories with decent competition provide fertile ground for the progress of science, in the testing between alternatives. There are no strong contenders for the origin of species within the field of biology, leaving evolutionary biologists little to do besides dot the i's and cross the t's.

Creationists (especially young earth creationists) believe all animals were created within a one week period of time some six thousand (to ten thousand) years ago. The evidence for evolution indicates organisms gradually evolved into their present forms from multicellular marine creatures that lived six hundred million years ago. Is life 6000 years old, or 600,000,000? That difference is a really big problem for creationists.

Darwin's theory inadequately addressed the mechanism of heritability and the introduction of variability. Darwin posited some type of blending of traits when it was clearly shown by Mendel (unknown to Darwin ) that inheritance was particulate. Not widely known until the turn of the 20th century and then in the 30's the modern synthesis

put genetics and Darwinian theory together in a new theory that basically holds today.
