Easter is the "favourite" Christian holiday because it commemorates the defining event of our faith. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the proof of His claims to be the Son of David, Son of Man, Son of God and Messiah/Christ, because if those things were not true then God would not have resurrected Him.
1 Corinthians 15 is one of the clearest passages on the centrality of the resurrection. 1 Peter 3:1 and 3:21 also place great emphasis on the importance of the resurrection.
