Harry and Ron are told to follow the Spiders by Hagrid, the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, because Tom Riddle framed Hagrid for opening the Chamber of Secrets. Hagrid's pet spider, Aragog, is thought of to be the beast hidden in the chamber; however, when Harry and Ron follow the spiders (like Hagrid told them to) into the Forbidden Forest, find Aragog, and discuss the matter, they find out that Aragog was not the beast. this then proved to Harry and Ron that Hagrid was innocent. This also later on contributes to the comprehension that Tom Riddle was lying about Hagrid opening the Chamber of Secrets 50 years previously.
