Generally IE8 is not unstable itself, though there are many plug-ins (known as add-ons) that will make it unstable. Try disabling all add-ons (via the "Tools->Manage Add Ons" menu item) and then one-by-one enabling particular add-ons that you want and you should be able to restore stability to IE8.

What two numbers have a sum of 8 and a product of 8?

a + b = 8, a x b = 8 a = 8 - b so 8b - b^2 = 8 ie b^2 - 8b + 8 = 0 Using the quadratic formula gives (8 +/-sqrt(64 - 32)/2 ie (8 +/- 5.66)/2 = 4 +/- 2.83 so the dimensions are 1.17 and 6.83, which sum to 8 and multiply to 7.9911. Near enough?

What is the expression for 8 to the power of 6 written as a base 2 power?

8 = 2 to the third, so 8 to the sixth = 2 to the eighteenth. ie ((2 to the third) to the sixth). In this case you multiply the powers, not add them. Check it out, if you added the powers, you'd get 2 to the ninth which is 512, ie 8 to the third.

Which orientation of an electric dipole in an uniform electric field would correspond to unstable equilibrium?

So interesting query! As we keep the dipole with its dipole moment along the direction of the electric field then it will be in stable equilibrium. IF we keep the same dipole inverted ie its dipole moment opposite to the external field then the dipole will be in unstable equilibrium.

5x - 5y equals -30 3x plus 4y equals 38?

Add the equations: 8x - y = 8 ie 8x - 8 = y so 5x - 5(8x - 8) = -30 which is 5x - 40x + 40 = -30 ie -35x = -70 making x = 2 and y = 8.
