Through history there have been killers more horrendous the Jack the Ripper. He was not the first serial killer, but he was probably the first to appear in a large metropolis at a time when the general populace had become literate and the press was a force for social change.

Although opinions may differ I believe JTR is the most mysterious killer in the world. Over a century later the Ripper has become a household name. Zodiac and the Black Dahlia killer have their place in criminal history but none are as well known or as enduring as Saucy Jack.
Jack the Ripper
The Ripper is most commonly known as Jack the Ripper, the unidentified serial killer who operated in London in 1888. The name is derived from a letter sent to the press, purportedly by the killer, which included the phrase "Jack the Ripper." Despite numerous investigations and theories, the true identity of Jack the Ripper remains a mystery.

If we assume the Ripper was human (most likely scenario), then it is also reasonable to assume he had a mother.
Jack The Ripper was never caught and although there is never a shortage of suspects it will most likely take DNA evidence to finally close the books on this killer.
I think this must be 'Jack the Ripper'.
Without a doubt, Jack The Ripper.
The crimes of Jack the Ripper were committed in a fairly small section of East London. Although the Whitechapel Murderer was only a threat to a very small section of the community in a relatively small part of London, the murders had a huge impact on society as a whole. No crime is more frightening than serial murder. Not only are these crimes most brutal and sickening, but the serial killer usually targets a particular type of person. There is something that the ripper could find so intriguing as most as anyone would find. The world wide press in those times focusing on such a small place, would really make him like a king within a castle.
Most of the Ripper's murders were found in one small geographical area, about 1 square mile, in London's poverty-stricken east end. But there were other murders outside that area around the time of Jack The Ripper's killings that have not been ruled in or out as Ripper murders.
There were token protests from a few family members and/or significant others as to the profession of their loved ones after meeting with Jack The Ripper, but the truth is without exception the Ripper's victims were full/part/occational prostitutes.
