With Adam and Eve's fall from grace in the Garden of Eden mankind was by default bound for hell, no exceptions. With Christ's victory on the cross we are now able to attain heaven if we choose. This gospel is in fact a great comfort, knowing we don't have to go to hell, but can choose the destination of our souls. This is why Jesus is called Comforter.
The Holy Spirit!
The Holy Spirit is the comforter. He walks beside you when you are a believer.
Comforter is another term applied to the Holy Spirit by Jesus.
