Christianity is based on Jesus death, burial and resurrection. There would be no Christianity without Jesus.

Jesus came as the lamb of God:

Joh 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Jesus died as the lamb given by God as a sacrifice, a suitable payment for the sin of all mankind and so all who believe will be saved from death.

Joh 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

1Jn 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1Jn 5:12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
