Jupiter is the Roman name for the Greek god Zeus. When Zeus and his siblings battled the Titans and won, him and his two brothers, Poseidon and Hades, drew lots to see who would rule what. Hades drew the lot for the Underworld, Poseidon the Sea, and Zeus the sky. Thus, Zeus became god of the sky and King of the gods.
