The county of Kent used to produce huge amounts of fruit and vegetables which were sent all over the UK to feed the population. Kent was also the main hop growing area of the UK which is used in the brewing of beer. Because of this, Kent was known as the Garden of England. Although Kent still grows these items, its output is much reduced because of foreign imports.
