Why is King Tutankhamun Popular?

He was known to bring back the ancient religion to Egypt after the king before him. He was also know as the boy king who ruled at age 9 and died at age 19.

And was a way better King than his dad

Tutankhamens' was the first almost intact tomb to be discovered and excavated; prior to 1922 most Egyptian tombs that had been found had been looted by grave robbers.

The discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen (by Howard Carter) was well documented and widely published as international communications were much more developed (than say 50 years earlier).

Although the tomb had been disturbed by grave robbers it is though that they were disturbed and never returned to complete the job, leaving 95% of the treasures intact. This was the first time that archaeologists were able to view and see exactly what a royal burial chamber contained; besides the valuable treasures a host of normal everyday items were interred with the pharaoh to assist him in his afterlife (chariot, tools, jars, cups, arrows etc.)

Probably the most iconic discovery within the tomb was the death mask of Tutankhamen which currently resides in the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo in Egypt.

Tutankhamen ruled Egypt between 1332 BC and 1323 BC
