Most likely it is the switch in the door. They can go with use over time.
You have to get a replacement from the dealer for about 20 bucks or less. Then pop off the inside door cover which is really easy on a 2002. You'll need a wide flat screwdriver for that and a Phillips {star (i think)} screwdriver for the two screws in the door. The first screw is behind the tiny square cover hiding behind the door handle where you open the door when sitting inside, and the second in the indentation handle you use to close the door. (be sure not to loose the little screw access cover for the door opener handle... it's really small and just pops out).
There are plastic securing pins that hold the door panel in place all the way round 'including the top" and the door lock (manual) button near the back of the door at the top can just stay on while you change the switch.
Once all the securing pins have been popped free, lift the panel slightly to release it from the door frame and then toward you to access the switch from the inner side of the panel.
The old switch comes away from it's position in the door panel by 'gently' applying slight pressure outward on the securing brackets (plastic - so be gentle - the can break easily) to release either side first then the other and the switch will just release from the inside panel. Unplug the old switch from its power line and plug in the new replacement one and then test the new switch before replacing the door panel.
If the new switch works - Great. Replace the new switch into the door panel and replace the door panel by reversing all the steps you did to take it off.
Be careful to line up the plastic securing pins with their appropriate holes and give a firm slap to lock them in place. * remember to fit the window frame rest in its place at the top when you are replacing the panel. you'll know when it's in the groove because the securing pins will line up and snap into place properly.
If in the event the new switch Does Not Work, that's a whole different story. It may be the power line connector pins that couple to the switch are old... replace the power line end, or it may be that there is a short somewhere in the line. In either case, it would be smart to take it to your favorite mechanic that you trust or the dealership and have them check it out.
Good luck.
James.
You could remove the power door lock fuse or relay.
I have the exact same problem right now with a 2004 trailblazer... any discoveries?
If the power door locks quit working on a 1979 Corvette, it is due to broken pigtail switches. With age and use, the pigtails break and leaves the power door locks inoperable.
Have you checked the relays?
The power door locks on a Dodge Caravan can stop working if the fuse is bad. Check the power door lock relay fuse that is located in the engine compartment on most Dodge Caravans. It should be next to the battery.
Power window module (amplifier) is not working. It is located inside the door panel.
Try spraying the 'button' located in the door jamb and working it. See if that helps.
