He was a rich slave owner who is famous for saying "give me liberty or give me death". He had high ideals of freedom, but at the same time he sold out his ideals by denying that very freedom to every slave he owned. At that time in history the "liberty" club was very exclusive and only accepted land owning, white males. His courage for defying the authority in England could not be denied, however, as his risked his fortune and his life for his treason against the crown. His bravery to take a stand against tyranny and injustice at great personal risk, albeit hypocritical, made him unique in my humble opinion.

he's famous because he impress people of being a law. Also he became more famous because of his speech, "GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH".
