Odysseus and his men willingly go to Polyphemus' cave, sacrifice and eat some of the cyclops' cheese, and wait for Polyphemus to return. When Polyphemus returns, he rolls a large boulder in front of the exit to the cave, trapping the men.
After they leave the cyclopes' island, Odysseus takes his ships back to the neighboring island that they stopped at before (the one with really good land for farming but no seeds have been planted and lots of goats). They sacrifice the goat that Odysseus used to escape- Polyphemus' biggest ram. They sacrifice it to Zeus, but Zeus ignores it.
It is to give "gifts" to the gods so the gods wouldn't do anything bad to the people or give them hardships.
You sacrifice a spirit that has died
The Aztec's main god was HUITZILOPOCHTLI. It was he who told the Aztecs where to build their city. He was the Sun god who they fed with human sacrifice. He was the god of war.... An important god! He is the main god in Aztec.

The sacrifices were only made inside the Holy Temple. Once it was destroyed, there was no other place that the sacrifices could be made.
Since the Temple was destroyed and the holy items stolen, there has been no Temple and therefore no sacrifices.
Blood sacrifice in the temple in Jerusalem.
None. Jews stopped making animal sacrifices in the year 70 CE. Answer Sacrifices can only be offered in the Temple in Jerusalem. Since the Temple was destroyed, sacrifice can not be offered. When we are not able to offer sacrifices, prayer replaces the sacrifice. This is specified in the Torah.
In ancient times, various animals were sacrificed in the Temple in Jerusalem, usually kosher animals such as lambs, goats, and poultry. Grains were also offered as a sacrifice. After the Temple was destroyed in the year 70 CE, sacrifices were no longer performed, and were replaced by prayer.
