Why did Rick Riordan stop writing Percy Jackson books?
Because in book 5 "The Last Olympian" the Great Prophecy was fulfilled and the Great prophecy was the theme of the Percy Jackson books. Then Rachel Elizabeth Dare (a mortal who could see through the mist) became the new oracle and proclaimed the next great prophecy. Rick Riordan then wrote his next book, "The Lost Hero" the beginning of a sequel series to the Percy Jackson books. But this new series is about the new demigods that will come to camp half-blood. The next book "The Son of Neptune (Poseidon)" is supposed to come out this Fall 2011.
Why does Annabeth feel that she and Percy can't be friends?
Because both Rachel and Annabeth like Percy. In the start of the fifth book, Rachel asked Percy how a girl could get a guy to kiss her and she used the word hypothetically. Usually, when someone says "hypothetically" it means really, they're just too embarrassed to say it. At the end of the book, after Rachel becomes the oracle (who's not allowed to date boys) they get along. At the very end, when Annabeth says "So I guess Rachel won't be dating any boys," Percy says, "You don't sound disappointed.
