There are 5 traits of civilization The first is Advanced cities Advanced cities were used as places to store surplus grain When floods happened, rivers over flowed and the water left silt behind making better crops which could support a bigger population. Such as Nippur, Ur, and Kish. The second trait is Specialized workers Specialized workers were artisans, farmers, priests, and kings which did a special role in Mesopotamia. Farmers grew crops, artisans made pottery for trade, priests told Sumerians how to act to please the gods, the king first protected the city from invaders then ruled over Sumer. Complex institutions Complex institutions were organizations that basically helped society. Schools, temples, and the army help Sumer. Schools educated Sumerians, a temple is a place of praying to please the gods for good fortune, and armies protected Sumer. Advanced Technology Advanced technology were inventions by Sumerians. The potters wheel made making pottery more efficient. Also Sumerians invented bronze. Bronze was a mixture between copper and tin.
