Venus is not purple, it may look slightly red because of light refraction due to it's early or late appearance low on the horizon.
It's true colour is a sickly yellow. See related link for a picture and make your own mind up - it is not purple!
the color is purple
There are no naturally purple planets in our solar system. The color of a planet is determined by its composition and the way light is reflected off its surface, and none of the planets appear purple to the naked eye.
The atmosphere on Venus appears yellowish due to sulfur dioxide, which scatters light in the yellow part of the spectrum.
Venus actually appears yellow, due to sulfuric acid and carbon dioxide clouds all over its surface. However, when a photo is taken with an ultraviolet filter Venus does appear blue. See related links for a picture of a blue Venus and a picture of Venus in real colour.
