Yad Vashem is important to remember so it will never happen again. It also is in dedication to the six million Jewish people who perished.
Yad VaShem - in Hebrew יד ושם Yad: Memorial (it has also the meaning of Name, Fame, Reputation...) Shem: Name of the tribes of Shem...the Semitic people are descendants of "Shem" Va: And (conjunction) Yad VaShem: A Memorial to the Tribe of Shem. Other Semitic races found in Asia are also children of Shem and speak Semitic languages, so technically the Yad VaShem would be not only for Jews but all Semitic Suffering including Arabs, Jews, Afghans, etc. It is the Jerusalem museum in remembrance of the names of the victims of the Holocaust.
the Vam Pels were the family who hid with anne frank and her family in the secret annex during the Holocaust they were found and killed at concentration camps The Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem is called Yad Vashem (a memorial and a name) taken from Isaiah. The "V" element is the "and", however, so may not be what you want. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yad_Vashem
The Torah is very delicate. It is written on parchment which can be damaged by too much oil. Our hands are very oily. So to protect the Torah, we use a yad. A yad is a pointer, often shaped like a hand. Yad means hand.
Yes. There some people who took pity on the Jews and tried to help them in practical ways. There's a tendency to talk in terms of rescuers and rescued but usually it was much less melodramatic than that. A Jew made some move - perhaps ecsaped from a ghetto, and someone give him/her food and shelter ... Many of those who did so are commemorated by Yad Vashem.
It's a yad, not a yan. The yad is used as a pointer whilst reading the Torah. As the Torah is holy, no-one is allowed to touch it (excpet the scribe), so people use yads instead.
Yom Hashoah Educational Materials for Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day This website features a variety of age-appropriate educational materials in English and in other languages, including ceremonies, lesson plans, encyclopedia entries, and guidelines for educators on how to prepare Holocaust remembrance days. ▲topreceived from Yad Vashem site http://www1.yadvashem.org/yv/en/remembrance/2009/events.asp by one4gaia@gmail.com, but there is no answer? OK, I guess! I was looking for materials for WWII Veterans and P.O.W.'s Rememberance day for an Art project memmoial, but cuurricula to teach about their contribution's sounds like a great idea and I feel art completes some of that through the manifestation of introspection. What does Yad Vashem have to do with Yom Hashoah. I don't know Hebrew , but someone should who might be able to reference these together, might find a clue to what I'm looking for , so please let me know. Thanks.
because it is said 2 b sacred writing and they don't want to touch it because they bealieve for it to be special so they use a yad to read instead of their dirty fingers. because it is said 2 b sacred writing and they don't want to touch it because they bealieve for it to be special so they use a yad to read instead of their dirty fingers.
The yad (a small pointer, usually of silver) is used in order to read the Torah accurately without needing to touch it. This is because of the high honor in which we hold the Torah scroll. See also:Facts about Torah scrolls
The Torah reader usually uses a pointer called a "yad". Yad literally means "hand". It's usually made of metal and often has a stylized hand with an index finger pointing at the end.
Carters is known for quality clothes and they are very popular. One of the reason is that they are not really true to size. Since they cost more that the average price clothes they run several months larger so the mother can get extra use out of it and the baby can grow into it.
