For our convenience we count only 365 days in an year. The balance of about 6hours is computed to one extra day after every four year. This additional day is added in the month of February in that year. So,february has 29 days and that year has 366days.Such an year is known as a leap year.

Because the earth orbits once around the sun in 365 1/4 days but the is only 365 days in a year so every 4 years the add an extra day because 4 x 1/4 equals 1.

Was this year leap year?

2012 was a leap year (leap year happens every 4 years because a year is actually 365 1/4 years)

Future leap years?

Leap Years are years divisible by four, with two exceptions. 1. "Century" year numbers (divisible evenly by 100) are not leap years. 2. Years divisible evenly by 400 ARE leap years. So years like 1992 and 1996 were leap years. Century years like 1900 or 2100 are NOT leap years. But 2000 was a leap year, and 2400 will be.

What is a leap year and when do they occur?

Generally, a leap year occurs in years divisible by four but not in years divisible by 100, unless they are divisible by 400, in which case a leap year does occur. So, 2008 was a leap year, and the next one will be four years later, in 2012. (The year 2000 was a leap year because it was divisible by 400.)

Where does leap year take place?

According to the Julian calendar, every year that is evenly divisible by four is a leap year. There are two exceptions to this rule. 1. Years divisible by 100 are not leap years. 2. Years divisible by 400 ARE leap years. So 2000, 2004 and 2008 were leap years, and 2012 and 2016 will be. However, 2100 will not be, even though 2000 was a leap year.

Why do you have leap year ever four years?

every year we have 365 and 1/4 days a year so we have leap day because if we did not every 4 years we will be skipping a day and in the deep future we will be having seasons on different months than we have today so that's why we have leap day.
