When do you know when you hermit crab is going to die?
You will know when your hermit crab is about to die because it will not move in the shell. When it is not moving it starts to fall out of its shell. Like my hermit crabs 2 of them died and now I only have 1. The first and second one did the same thing of course but they both fell out. You also know when a hermit crab dies, when they a pale or there skin is different. They will not hide into there shell at all. Hopefully your hermit crabs are in good health like mine were!!!

It is so much better for the crab.
Can you paint your hermit crab shells with nail polish or acrylic paint?
It is actually best to give them natural shells. While painted shells may seem fun and attractive to you, even paint that is labeled "non toxic" has not been tested for safety with hermit crabs. Hermit crabs tend to nibble on most everything in their environment. Imagine if you ate a whole bowl full of paint chips. Whether it was "non toxic" or not, it would probably still make you sick. Because hermit crabs eat such small amounts, a few nibbles of a paint chip would be like eating a bowl of paint chips for you. Nail polish is definitely unsafe for them, and acrylic paint isn't good either. If you own a hermit crab with a painted shell, offer him several different natural shells (which are much more beautiful) so he can move out. Once he does (and he was forced into that painted shell to begin with, they don't paint shells with crabs in them), remove the shell and don't let him have it back. You will likely find that the paint has already been chipping off.
Are hermit crabs born with a shell?
yes they do becuse if they dont the part that goes in the shell is very tender and soft and can get dameged very easy so its good to have difernt sized empty shells in the cage so the crab can change the shells when needed

Can fiddler crabs live with hermit crabs?
No, Hermit Crabs and Fiddler Crabs are very different, and require two whole different living conditions. And Fiddler Crabs are very aggressive, and will probably attack the Hermit Crab anyway. So, in all, it just isn't a good idea.

at the Colorado mills mall there is a place called hermit hut thqat is a good place. petco and petsmart are also good. i got 1 of my crabs at petsmart and the other 2 from earthbound trading company, that place is not a good place to get a hermit crab, it isn't even a pet it is a jewelery store that sells crabs. but petsmart is the best.

If you get more than 1 hermit crab then their shells need to all be the same sizes because if 1 hermit crab has a bigger shell than that crab will kill the smaller ones. 4. You need to keep a good eye on the crabs because if you let the crabs roam around on your floor while not looking they might get away and that would be a super bad problem. 5. And make sure that they have food and water in their cages every day. 6. Never put them in a bowl full of lots of water because then they will drown and do not ever put hermit crabs in chlorine. 7. And pay lots of attention to your hermit crabs.Love on them and make them feel good.
