In a parallel circuit, if one component gets removed from the circuit, the rest of the components remain undisturbed. If a light bulb burns out in a series circuit, the rest of the components in that circuit will go out with it. But if it were in a parallel circuit, only the light bulb would go out.

-- If all of the lights in the house were in series, then they would all have to be ON at the same time.

Turning any light OFF would turn all of them off.

-- In a parallel circuit, a smaller resistance dissipates more power.

In a series circuit, the total voltage of the power source (the electric company) divides in proportion

to the resistance of each component. The result is that the smallest resistances dissipate the least

power. But the smallest resistances in the house are the ones that need the most power ... the

refrigerator, toaster, electric stove, air conditioner, etc. These couldn't operate in a series circuit

that had larger resistances in it. One little night-light would kill all of the heavy appliances.

-- And again ... all of the appliances would have to run at the same time. If you turned off the

electric stove, all of the other appliances would turn off, (as well as all the lights in the house).

No, a household series circuit wouldn't work too well.

also.. in case of a parallel circuit , equal voltage and current is suppiled to every electrical component attached to it !! but in case of series circuit powerlosses will be more and electrical component attached at the end of the circuit will receive less voltage.

Because if a series circuit is used when a light bulb goes out or an outlet is burnt out the whole system goes down, with a parallel circuit this does not happen.

Where is a parallel circuit used?

All house wiring consists of parallel circuits.

Example of a parallel circuit?

A parallel circuit is used in household wiring. It allows a current to split in half and gives devices just the amount of power they need. This method of wiring is useful for fixing a circuit because the power can flow around the problem and you can fix it.

A circuit that has more than one path?

A circuit that has more than one path for the electric current to flow is called a parallel circuit. In a parallel circuit, each component is connected to the same two points, allowing for multiple paths for the current to travel. This configuration is commonly used in household wiring and electronics to power multiple devices independently.

A parallel circuit. All the lights are connected in parallel across the power source.

Types of electrical circuit?

Series and parallelImproved AnswerThere are four categories of circuit: series, parallel, series-parallel, and complex. 'Complex' is a 'catch-all', used to describe circuits that are not series, parallel, or series-parallel. An example of a 'complex' circuit is a Wheatstone Bridge circuit.
