You have it backwards. Air pressure is the caused by the weight of the column of air pressing down on people or objects near the surface. Pressure is greatest at (or below sea level) and decreases with altitude (for the simple reason that the higher you climb, the less air is above you).
Because water is about 1,000 times denser than air, the weight of air at sea level is about equal to 33 feet of water. This is why divers experience about one adtmosphere for every 33 feet they dive.
all the air pressure goes down, so as you get higher up, there is less in the air
As you go above the sea level, pressure of air decreases.Atmospheric pressure at sea level is 1 atm.On top of mountain, air is thin which suggests less atmospheric pressure at that place.
Although you didn't mention air pressure, that seems to be what you are asking about. Air exerts pressure because air has weight, and we have a very thick atmosphere (which extends upward for about 200 miles) pressing down on us. But at higher altitudes, such as a mountain top, there is less air pressing down, since only the part of the atmosphere that is higher than where you are, is pressing down on you.
Air pressure at any altitude is determined by how strongly gravity forces the surrounding air molecules together and downward. The higher the altitude the less pull gravity exerts on the air molecules, and consequently, the air pressure decreases. So, as you climb a mountain, the higher you go, the lower the ambient air pressure.
The boiling of any liquid is tied in to the atmospheric pressure, in an open system. Every liquid has it's own vapor pressure, that is the balance between the vapor and liquid phase. When atmospheric pressure decreases, the vapor pressure increases since now there is greater space for the molecules of the liquid to come into vapor phase. At higher altitudes, the atmospheric pressure is lesser, that is, the air is thinner. Thus the liquid can attain higher vapor pressure faster and boil at a lower temperature.
Water would boil higher at the top of a mountain than at sea level. This is because there is less atmospheric pressure at higher elevations.
Air is denser at lower altitudes and less dense at higher altitudes. If the bottom of the valley is directly below the mountain, at a lower altitude, then there is technically more air in the valley.
Air pressure on earth results from the earth's gravitational pull on the earth's atmosphere. In some sense, pressure results from the weight of the air above the point at which one measures pressure. At higher altitudes, there is less air above, resulting in less weight, which translates into pressure.
it is higher up on Mount Everest so it has less pressure than at sea level
It is the effect of air pressure. The air pressure at the top of a mountain is less than the air pressure at sea level. The effect of air pressure on a water surface is to prevent or oppose water molecules escaping from the surface. The greater the air pressure, the more heat energy is needed to allow the water molecules to escape and so at sea level the water will boil at a higher temperature than if it were on top of a mountain.
Air pressure decreases as height is gained. There is less air pressure at the top of a high mountain, than at sea level.
all the air pressure goes down, so as you get higher up, there is less in the air
When you are at a higher altitude, like on a mountain, you are farther up in the atmosphere meaning there is less air pressing down on you. When you are at a lower altitude, like at sea level, there is more air pressing down on you because there is more atmosphere above you.
As you go above the sea level, pressure of air decreases.Atmospheric pressure at sea level is 1 atm.On top of mountain, air is thin which suggests less atmospheric pressure at that place.
Higher than what? As you go up a mountain the air pressure gets lower simply because there is less air above you weighing down on you.
no because at the top of the mountain its less pressure than at the sea level so it will take more time to boil
Because there is less air pressure.
