Most metals are shiney, particulary after cleaning them, from what i remember, its due to the electrons moving and reflecting light. Try looking up physical properties of metals.

Aluminium (or aluminum as it is more often called) does indeed have a metallic luster, although it is not as lustrous as some other metals such as silver.

Freshly cut or polished aluminum exhibits luster but it quickly becomes dull from the formation of a very tough oxide layer if it is exposed to an oxygen atmosphere.

Why does cooking tomatoes in an aluminium pot make it seem shiny?

The acid in the tomatoes reacts to the metal aluminum. Just like you don't put lemon on a fish aluminum foil packet in an oven, the taste becomes metallic. Avoid mixing any acid and aluminum.

How much heat can aluminum withstand?

That depends on what you are trying to ask.First point is that heat is energy in transit - if it isn't moving from one place to another it's technically not heat. Thermal energy - the energy held by a mass due to temperature is a better term, but even that is a bit ambiguous. With that in mind...if you mean how much energy can be stored as thermal energy by aluminum, you would have to look up the heat capacity - which is approximately 0.91 kJ/kg K (the exact value depending on temperature and purity of the aluminum)If you mean how much resistance aluminum foil can provide to the transfer of heat, that would depend on the temperature gradient and how shiny the aluminum was - shiny aluminum will reflect more heat that dull/burnished aluminum surfaces.

How can you tell aluminum is a metal?

Aluminum is a good conductor of electricity and heat. It gives of a shiny, metallic luster, and is highly malleable - meaning it can be bended into different shapes.

Will chlorine clean off corrosion on aluminum?

To remove both oil and grease you should clean aluminum with a solution of water and mild dish washing liquid. Generally, aluminum items around your home just need a good periodic dusting with a soft, clean cloth, to keep clean and shiny. Thanks!
