Why is amazon rainforest endangered?

The land the forest sits on is rich in minerals, the forest is being cut and in amny cases burned rather than farmed. Fallen trees are not being replaced and which in turn egffects the wild life, flora and forna that live in the forest. The land is then being used for human habitation despite the fact that the area does not actually support the volume of human traffic.
