Microprocessor is a combined term meaning small (micro) central processing unit (CPU), usually on one chip. An example is the 8085 or 8086/8088.

Contrast this with microcomputer, which is a microprocessor that also includes ROM, RAM, and IO on the chip. An example is the 87C51.
