Any opaque object which obstructs the path of light will create a shadow. For that very reason, our body, being opaque, creates a shadow when cast in front of a light source, such as, the sun.

Oiled paper is more translucent than opaque.
Darker colors absorb more light than lighter colours, hence why they are darker. Therefore they have more energy to release than lighter colours and cool down more rapidly.
Because a shadow forms behind an object when a light source shines on it. This happens because the object is solid and light can not travel through the solid object. The light that travels around the object reflects back up and the area that is not reflecting looks darker. That's why! Did this help you?
no he is not but he is faster then sonic and silver is faster then shadow hes also darker than him
Penumbra is a partial outer shadow that is lighter than the darker inner shadow umbra (e.g. the area between complete darkness and complete light in an eclipse). It is a fringe section of half shadow resulting from the partial obstruction of light by an opaque object. The shadow is not a solid 'black' colour. It can be the same colour as the object and the shadow allows you to see through it more than an opaque objects shadow. An opaque object would block the light but a translucent object would give a shadow that you could quite easily see through
the umbra is a darker shadow than the penumbra
In the Moon's shadow. Particularly, the "penumbra" which is the lighter partial shadow, rather than the "umbra", the darker total shadow area.

no what would be the point i mean shadow is as dark as people/hedgehogs get. the dude kills anyone who gets in his way now you cant get much darker than that. plus shadow rocks!!!! Shadow is brash, but he won't kill just anyone. He is a neutral character. and there is no evidence so far that Shadow has a darker version than he has now. Maybe if he saw kill OMEGA or Rouge right in front of him maybe...(Shadow's best friends)
Soil absorbs more light than water does. Water is transparent, so light passes through it. Soil is opaque.
Light from the sun (or any other source) travels in particles, which strike objects and are often partially absorbed. A shadow forms behind a tree because when the particles hit the tree, they are absorbed and reflected, so that everything on the other side of the tree, where the light would have gone, receives no light. However, some light will bounce off of other objects and go behind the tree in the other particles' place. Since this other light will already have been partially absorbed, it will be more dim than direct light. Because of this, we are able to see in the shadow, but since the light there is not as strong, it is darker. This darker region behind the tree, is the shadow.

Bromine gas, like any other transparent colored substance, will appear darker if viewed through a thick layer than through a thin one. Otherwise, the color does not change with amount of material.
Aluminum foil would cast a darker shadow because the material is more dense. Light can still pass through the less dense tissue paper.
