The Antarctic region is much colder than the Atlantic region for two main reasons:
1. The Antarctic receives a lot less sunlight. The earth's axis is on a tilt, which causes seasons as the earth travels around the sun. During the antarctic winter, much of the region goes without sunlight for many months at a time.
2. The Antarctic region is at a very low angle relative to the sun's light. The equator receives the sun's light at about a 90 degree angle, or straight on. This means the full force of the light hits the surface of the earth. At the poles however, the low angle means the light hits the surface of the earth with much less intensity, so what little sunlight the Arctic gets isn't very strong.
Antarctica is colder than Hawaii, 100% of the time.

No. Antarctica is coldest away from the beaches.
Yes.
Antarctica covers 10% of the earth's surface. The interior of the continent is colder than at the beaches.
Yes
It is a lot colder.
The two climates are not the same. Antarctica is far colder than North America, as is the Arctic. Antarctica is about 30 degrees F colder than the Arctic.
No, Antarctica is colder, primarily because it is a continent with thousands of feet of ice, whereas the north pole is ocean.
