An arch is a shape in which when load is applied on the top,

all members within the arch are compressed. Some of the

most abundant materials ie. stone or concrete is very well

suited for application of compressive forces on them. As its

shape arch is one of the structural shapes that requires the

least amount of construction material to be built in order to

carry the loads it is meant to.
