Not quite sure on the question, but bees build raw honeycomb naturally in an oval shape. The natural habitat of the honey bee is a hollow tree. They will attach honey at the top of the cavity, and build out from there. A ball is the most efficient way for a hive to maintain temperature, so the baby bees (larva and eggs) will be in the center of that ball, and other bees will surround them to keep them warm. The oval shape, instead of a perfect round shape may be due to the way that workers hang on each other and build wax. They build down and slowly out, creatin an oval shape.
