Beryllium is useful because of its hardness relevant to its unique structure while being incredibly light. it is the lightest of the hard metals known. In terms weight vs strength it is harder than diamond. Beryllium is useful in spark-less tools, X-ray tube windows and is permeable to photons making it useful for X-ray machines. It can withstand great heat and is ideal for spacecraft, missiles, and nuclear weapons. It can be mixed with chromium to produce lustrous colors and is used to brighten jewels. Beryllium also has the highest acoustic propagation speed of any known element, on average 4000m/s higher than most diamonds. Nuclear technology: neutrons reflector, brazing material for zirconium alloys, neutrons source Ra-Be and others; BeO is also a neutron reflector; BeF2 was used in the Molten Salt Reactor Experiment. Also BeO is a very valuable refractory ceramic material and electric insulator. Beryllium metal is also used in bronzes with beryllium, welding alloys, alloys for watches components. It is a very important and useful element but unfortunately rare and toxic.

The use of beryllium, is used as missiles, and rockets. Windows for X-ray tubes, brazing material for zirconium alloys, beryllium bronzes, beryllium alloys for welding, nuclear applications as reflector, beryllium-copper alloys for Transformers, Ra-Be source of neutrons, alloys for aviation industry, alloys for missiles, alloy for watches components, etc. Beryllium oxide: electric insulator but thermal conductor, ceramics for high temperatures, nuclear applications as neutrons reflector, etc.
