1)Blues music has always got a sad rhythm to it and sad words.

2) Blues is very similar to Jazz but with a sad rhythm to it as the comment says above me. Without the 'sad' flow of it, it won't be Blues... :)

Because Blues Music was introduced to America by slaves and they were very sad and dull that's why it is called blues music!! and at the time slaves were depressed and stressed from being away from family etc

It is only a style of the music. Does Muddy Waters, Memphis Minnie, Johnnie Johnson or Buddy Guy sing sad songs? Too many ways to spend my money 🎸

The lyrics are usually "sad" sounding, hints the name blues. Also, it isn't very upbeat and happy sounding. The themes are usually heartbreak, sadness, regret, bad memories,....etc.
