This is a purely chemical reaction. The reason why is simply because bacteria in the butter is turning the lactose and sugars found in butter into lactic acid.
Chemical, not easily reversable, rather permanent change (oxidation and hydrolysis)

Melting is a physical change.

putrid odor, like rancid butter

Oxygen. It goes rusty because oxygen is a poison. Oxygen also makes butter go rancid. Animals have got used to this poison.
Those chips are rancid!
Having a rank smell or taste, from chemical change or decomposition; musty; as, rancid oil or butter.

It is not chemical change ,it is a physical change

No. It may kill any bacteria, but the butter will still smell and taste rancid.
Go buy fresh butter
Rancid.
Do you mean 'synthetic' butter? And by rancid do you mean it doesn't taste as good as cow's butter? If so, simply because synthetic butter is generally a mixture of oils, water and flavorings. Butter is made from cream which comes from cows.
I do not know what you mean by raw butter: no butter is cooked. If you mean unsalted butter, it will likely go bad more quickly because salt is a preservative. But typically, all butter lasts longer in a french butter dish (also known as a butter bell -- it has a section for water, and a section for the butter).
Rancid oils taste bad, and contain free radicals, some of which are potentially carcinogenic. The potential for harm is low, however; eating rancid peanut butter probably won't result in a doctor or hospital visit.
no because it cant be if it was it would kill you
