Snow flakes form as water freezes in 3-dimensional space while being acted upon by energy leaking in from 4th-dimensional space (aka, Brownian Motion). Viewed in 3-dimensions, snowflakes appear to have different designs. Viewed in 4-dimensions, snowflakes all have the same design -- growth rate centered on square-root-of-time (in any one dimension); surface bounded by an ellipse (in any two dimensions); and surface bounded by a log-spiral (in three dimensions). After all, if snowfakes were strictly of different designs you would not know them as snowflakes when you saw them.

Water molecules are H2O, two hydrogen ions on each oxigen ion. The hydrogen ions are not in a straight line left and right from the oxigen ion, but they create more or less a V shape. This is even much more true for the electro-magnetic force field around these molecules. This causes them to prefer triangular and hexagonal crystal shapes when freezing.

Most snowflakes have a "condensation nucleus" or a dust particle to say it simpler in the center. Most dust particles have different shapes.

Larger ice crystals pull harder on surrounding water vapor to join them in their crystal structure than smaller crystals, clouds are not a homogenous mass of water vapour, there is constant air movement in the clouds, snowflakes collide and so on.

You can get an impression on how ions and molecules behave in a crystal by looking at the movies on theneocube.com . Search neo cube on YouTube for more. Remember that these magnets are symmetrical, ions and molecules rarely are.

because each snowflake contains a tiny city of people called the snow people depending on the size of the snowflake will tell the size of the city the number of its inhabitants in the city will give you how much the snowflake will weigh..jk depends how much ice its made of

The snowflake is a product of crystallization of freezing water. These crystals form in complex combinations according to random fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

Snowflakes are formed by ice crystals and pieces of dust. Because ice doesn't freeze the same on two pieces of dust, each snowflake is different.

No two snow flakes are never alike because the raindrops form together and lie in their own mould in the cloud.

Is it possible for two snowflakes to be alike?

Snowflakes come in all different shapes and sizes just like people. No two snowflakes can ever be the same and that is a good thing because than there's more beautiful designs.

ARE all snowflakes same?

Yes. Actually, it is a fact that no two snowflakes are the same. It is really truly amazing!

Do snowflakes look like?

All snowflakes are six-sided crystals

What is interesting stuff about snowflakes?

One interesting thing is that no two snowflakes are alike. i didn't believe this, but one day I could see individual snowflakes, and each one is slightly different. Also, when you see big clumps of snow falling in a snowstorm, that is multiple snowflakes clumped together, not just one huge snowflake. All snowflakes actually have exactly six points on them.

Are snowflakes real?

Snowflakes are ice particles formed from water droplets high in the atmosphere. All snow falls as snowflakes. Snowflakes are the winter version of rain drops. They are quite real.
