From a scientific standpoint, we've evolved to find foods which are beneficial to us as "tasty", and (for the most part) foods which are bad for us as "disgusting".

For example, natural items which are high in sugar content tend to be very beneficial to humans (fruits of all kinds, in particular). So, humans have evolved to find sugar "tasty", so we prefer foods with sugar in them over ones which have no (or less) sugar, as, historically, the odds that a high-sugar item was beneficial were much better than the odds that a low-sugar one was beneficial.
