Genesis is important because it is essential to know where we come from which will allow us to understand where and why we are heading to a certain outcome.

That being said ! The Book of Genesis teaches us that we were created by God, who has and has always had a purpose for mankind, which is that we live forever on earth in perfect health, and in a clean environment, confirmed in Genesis 2: 15-17.

Genesis chapter 3 is mankind's history, which shows that our progenitors Adam and Eve were given the choice to live up to God's standards, but had allowed themselves to be misled by the original serpent called Devil and Satan. Read 1 John 5: 19 and Revelation 12: 9

Concerning our future , 2'000 years ago, Jehovah God sent his precious Son on earth, to redeem the human race, who has remained precious in his eyes.

The human race will be freed from the curse of sin and death and the damage caused by Satan. Read John 3: 16 and 1 John 3: 8.

When Jesus was on earth he told us to pray for his Father Jehovah's kingdom, which is the government that will undo all the harm that millenniums of human rule have done.

It will provide, a perfect health for all those who take their stand for his government and kingdom, peace and security, and a clean environment. All what was lost due to Adam and Eve's choice.

We are totally victims of their choice, according to Romany 5: 12, in these words. " That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned. ( The meaning of the word sin is " miss the goal or purpose ) which is the basic truth of how sin and death spread to all humans.

So to answer your question, if we want to know where we are going it is indeed important to know where we come from, which is why the Book of Genesis is of great matter.

Psalms 37: 29 reminds us of what our future holds in these words. " The righteous will possess the earth, and they will forever on it".
